Selecting a major is often a stressful decision. This decision will directly impact the course of your life, so it's with good reason that you feel pressure.。

Before I get into my suggestions, I will tell you a little secret: The major you choose is simply a guide or a path, not an ultimatum. As you move through your undergraduate program, you are likely to learn and experience things that alter or shape your career goals. What you think you will do following graduation very well may change, which is totally normal. I tell you this to hopefully alleviate some of the stress you feel about selecting a major. Now, on to my suggestions:。

STEP 2 - Look into majors you haven't considered before。

STEP 3 - Conduct research。

Then create a pros and cons list for each of your major options. This website has great statistics and outlooks for various careers (though it's for the US):。

STEP 4 - Narrow your list down。

At this point, you should have a much better idea of majors that are available to you and of interest to you. If you have the time and resources, try to find a job shadow or internship in one or two of these areas. Or interview people in the field to learn more about their responsibilities, day-to-day experiences, happiness, and how they found themselves in the career.。

If you are still uncertain as to your major, that is okay too. In the United States, you don't have to declare a major until your second year, so you could start by taking classes in the areas that interest you. You might also consider a dual degree, majoring in two overlapping disciplines. In fact, doing so could greatly increase your career or higher education prospects.。
